GROWING UP IN AFRICA looks at the lives of children using case studies in Benin, Kenya and South Africa. DYING IN AFRICA looks at death and dying, and associated rituals in Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Niger, Burkina Faso. MIRACLE WATER looks at water as the epicentre of daily life and belief, and the origin of most conflicts through case studies in Benin, Dogon mythology, Ethiopia, Mali, Ghana. PAPER GODS looks at religion in Africans culture, using case studies in Benin, the people of the Niger River, Sudan, Egypt, Ghana, Ethiopia. WILL YOU MARRY ME? looks at marriage and the role of women in African society through case studies in Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, Senegal. THE PHOTO THAT SPEAKS looks at the influence of newspapers, radio, television, computers, and the Internet through case studies taken from South Africa, Uganda, Ghana, Mali. PROFESSION: ARTIST looks at art as a matter of survival - talks to artists, sculptors, musicians, singers, storytellers, filmakers from Senegal, South Africa, Mali, Burkino Faso. SEX IN AFRICA looks at gay men in South Africa, culturally accepted sexual practices in Sub-Saharan Africa and their effects, especially on women, and prostitution. WHITE AND BLACK looks at race relations. MORE THAN A GAME looks at the importance of sports (amateur and professional), games and festivals, using examples from Ethiopia, Senegal, Sudan, Niger, Ghana. AFRICA CALLS is the first episode in the series and gives an overview of the topics presented in later episodes
