Summary
The effects of oppositional behaviour and the many environmental challenges it brings are explored in this research report. Participants conclude that oppositional behaviour in youth is caused by environmental factors and this appears to create barriers to working therapeutically with these young individuals and their families. The research supports that the predominant oppositional behaviours which practitioners report in their day-to-day work include: non-compliance, truancy, general defiance and lack of boundaries
