Summary
In 1348, an enormous calamity struck. It was a health calamity, the Black Death, which killed about a third of the population of Europe. This book examines the nature of medicine between this disaster and the next great medieval medical calamity, the coming of the Great Pox in the 1490s, often known as the French Disease, and sometimes identified by historians as syphilis
