Summary
The SonaSafe ultrasonic safety system is a truck-based system that detects the presence of people close by and warns the driver of their presence. When multiple vehicles are in the same area, all emitting ultrasonic sound, the interference becomes a problem. The company producing SonaSafe, decided that a networking system should be developed to stop this interference by controlling ultrasound firing times. This report contains reviews of different networks using radio tranceivers, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as techniques that could be used to determine the distance between vehicles to allow them to detect when they are too close. It includes an experiment using received radio strength to estimate distance and describes a network to implement a solution to this problem -- Summary
